EL 7° FESTIVAL FUE TODO UN EXITO, SIN EMBARGO, LOS ENEMIGOS DE SAN LUIS Y SUS MEDIOS DE DESINFORMACION HAN INICIADO UNA FRONTAL CAMPAÑA DE ATAQUES CONTRA EL MISMO Y SUS DEFENSORES.

De nueva cuenta, como año con año, el desinformador periódico Pulso, (que inexplicablemente siguen comprando hasta los que se dicen "opositores"), se encargó de denostar la fiesta popular en la que se ha trasnformado el Festival Cultural de Cerro de San Pedro. ahora se fueron contra el compañero escritor Don ignacio Betancourt, reconocido mundialmente por su trabajo de muchos años. Este medio de desinformación ( lobo disfrazado de oveja, le llamaría en alguna ocasión el Dr. Savador Nava Martínez), en donde lo peor del "periodismo potosino" pulula diariamente habrá de tener que demostrar todas sus mentiras, tarde o temprano se debe poner un hasta aquí a estos pasquínes disfrazados de medios informativos. Aquí va la denuncia del escritor Ignacio Betancourt, y una invitación a no comprar ni consultar ni leer este desinformativo medio de descomunicación llamado Pulso, que si bien es cierto es el que más compran los habitantes de la ciudad capital, quizá sea por eso que las cosas están como están. Muchas gracias. desde Montreal, Qc Ca enrike rivera CARTA DE I. BETANCOURT. A LA OPINIÓN PÚBLICA : El sábado 8 de marzo inició el 7º. Festival de Cerro de San Pedro que año con año organiza el Frente Amplio Opositor para rechazar la presencia criminal de Minera San Xavier, pese a la campaña de terror desatada contra el festival durante semanas, éste fue el más exitoso de todos y tanto les dolió a los minera y sus cómplices, que de inmediato orquestaron un linchamiento mediático contra el FAO y contra quien esto escribe. Recurrieron en su provocación a los periódicos Pulso y San Luis Hoy, que se han caracterizado por denostar sistemáticamente las actividades del FAO, y como encubiertos cómplices de la minera han repetido y repiten hasta el cansancio que tal oposición es una actividad de extremistas y radicales. La provocación se dio desde el comienzo de las actividades. Un sujeto sin identificación visible alguna se dedicó a fotografiar de manera prepotente al público que escuchaba a los ponentes, fue tan agresiva su actitud que uno de los organizadores lo fotografió a él, ante lo cual el anónimo personaje desapareció de inmediato; luego se supo que era un empleado del periódico Pulso que firma sus fotos como J.C. Glz. Al terminar esta primera mesa redonda de la mañana apareció de nuevo el mismo personaje, pero ahora acompañado de otra persona que traía un sombrero hundido hasta las orejas y con enormes lentes oscuros (¿de quién intentará ocultarse?), después nos enteramos que responde al nombre de J. Carlos Gutiérrez E. y también es empleado del periódico Pulso. Ambos se acercaron al representante del Sindicato de académicos del INAH que acababa de hacer una denuncia sobre las flagrantes violaciones de MSX en Cerro de San Pedro, y el del sombrero comenzó a hacer preguntas. Al percatarme del hecho consulté a los organizadores respecto a si tenían conocimiento de quienes eran tales personajes, me dijeron que no los conocían. Ante lo impreciso de la situación me acerqué a quien fotografiaba y de manera respetuosa le pregunté de qué medio era, me miró sorprendido y molesto contestó: “del Pulso”; como no presentó ninguna identificación solicité la mostrara, entonces el de los lentes oscuros montó en cólera y ordenó que me retirara. Para no interrumpir las preguntas ni caer en la provocación me alejé. Al terminar me llamó y al acercarme a dialogar el fotógrafo se dio gusto retratándome. Sin embargo y pese a mi actitud moderada, el día domingo fui acusado en Pulso de “intentar coartar la libertad de infomación” junto a una serie de fotografías en las que nada permite inferior violencia, dichas imágenes bajo un gran encabezado: “Sainte etílico y paranoico en festival cultural del FAO. Alcoholizado, Ignacio Betancourt pretendía “correr” de Cerro de San Pedro a reporteros de Pulso, a quienes acusó de ser orejas de gobernación”; y en San Luis Hoy, con una gran fotografía en la primera plana en donde aparezco dialogando con el del sombrero, dicen con enormes letras: “Se sienten dueños. Ebrio “intelectual” increpa a reportero de SLH en Cerro de San Pedro”. Entonces entendí su plan cuando al terminar la entrevista, que por supuesto no publicó, vino amenazador hacia mí y lleno de furia me amenazó para culminar sus insultos con un “ya tengo la nota”, muy seguro de poder publicar lo que se le antoje. La impunidad es mala consejera, vuelve tontos a quienes la padecen; acostumbrados a mentir por sistema el simple hecho de que alguien se atreva a pedir que se identifiquen les resulta una agresión insoportable. Ahora tendrá que justificar su “crónica” y entre otras cosas explicar afirmaciones como: “A los verdaderos orejas les funcionó el camuflaje de jipitecas”, ¿cómo supo que había infiltrados? El texto que firma J. Carlos Gutiérrez E. destila veneno y las infamias que profiere sólo se sustentan en su propia furia. ¿Cómo puede probar mi supuesto estado de ebriedad? ¿Aplicó el alcoholímetro? Hay muchos testigos que pueden desmentirlo, representantes de Derechos Humanos, internacionales y estatales, diputados federales, académicos y artistas que habrán de denunciarlo cuando se requiera, y al mismo tiempo señalar su prepotencia y agresividad. Le molestó tanto la solicitud de identificación que incluso intenta descalificar hasta mi trayectoria literaria de más de treinta años con reconocimiento nacional e internacional, y tiene la desvergüenza de llamarme “astroso bardito local”; “mareado autócrata de todos los cerros”; con “confusión visual etílica”; y una en verdad amplia colección de insultos. This time they went after our comrade, Don Ignacio Betancourt, world-renowned writer. Dr. Salvador Nava Martínez once called Pulso, where the worst journalism of Potosi parades itself daily, "a wolf in sheep's clothing". The journal will have to show evidence of its claims. It is the most widely read newspaper in the capital city. Perhaps things are as they are because of that. Thank you very much, Enrike Rivera, Montreal, QC, Canada To the public at large: The 7th Cerro de San Pedro Festival took place this past Saturday March 8th, sponsored by the Frente Amplio Opositor, in opposition to the criminal presence of Minera San Xavier. Despite the weeks-long terror campaign against the festival, this edition was the most successful thus far. So hurt were the mining company and its accomplices that they immediately orchestrated a media lynching of FAO and this writer. The newspapers Pulso and San Luis Hoy, which, as covert accomplices of the mining company have systematically attacked FAO's activities as typical of extremists and radicals, provoke us. This provocation began when the festivities got underway. An unidentified man bullied his way in to photograph the public listening to the panelists. His attitude was so aggressive that one of the organizers photographed him in turn, after which said individual disappeared immediately. Afterwards, it became known that he was a Pulso employee, who signs his photos as J.C. Glz. After the first roundtable in the morning, the man appeared again, now accompanied by a second person who wore a hat down to his ears and enormous sunglasses (who was he trying to hide from?) Afterwards we found out that the second individual's name is J. Carlos Gutiérrez E. and is also a Pulso employee. Both men approached the INAH representative who had just made accusations about the flagrant legal violations of MSX in Cerro de San Pedro. The man in the hat began to ask questions. When I saw this, I asked the organizers about these men. They told me they did not know them. Faced with this uncertain situation, I approached the photographer and respectfully asked him which news medium he represented. The man, surprised and angry, replied, "from Pulso." As he did not have an identification, I asked him to produce one. That was when the man in the sunglasses grew irate and demanded I leave. I went away, so as not to interrupt the question-and-answer period nor escalate matters. After the Q&A, the man asked me to approach and the photographer freely took several photos of me. Despite my respectful attitude, Sunday I was accused by Pulso of "curtailing freedom of information." The article showed a number of photos from which it is impossible to infer any threatening action, under the headline "Drunk and Paranoid at the FAO Cultural Festival." "A drunken Ignacio Betancourt attempted to evict Pulso reporters from Cerro de San Pedro, accusing them of being the Governor's ears." San Luis Hoy ran a large photograph of me speaking with the man in the hat under the headline "They feel like they own the place. Drunken intellectual threatens SLH reporter in Cerro de San Pedro." I finally understood the plot they hatched when the man came charging at me and, furiously, insulted me and said "I now have the news piece," secure in his knowledge that he could publish whatever he wanted. Evidently, they did not publish their interview with me. Unaccountability is a bad policy. It turns the unaccountable into dunces. To men used to lying for a living, someone who dares to ask for their identifications is an insufferable form of aggression. Now they will have to justify their claims and explain propositions such as "The true ears of the government were well-camouflaged in their jipiteca outfits." How do they know such men infiltrated the festival? The text by J. Carlos Gutiérrez E. is pure poison. His slanders are based only on his own anger. How can he prove my alleged drunkenness? Did he use a breathalyzer? Many witnesses can vouch against said drunkenness: local and foreign human rights observers, Federal Government Representatives, academics and artists, who will step forward when needed, to speak against his bullying and aggressiveness. He was so bothered by my request for identification that he even tried to disqualify my nationally and internationally recognized 30-year plus literary career. He even has the gall to call me a "small time local bard", and a "drunken autocrat of the mountains", with a "drunken visual confusion" among other insults. He must feel quite sheltered by MSX. I will stand on my right to self-defense, according to arts. 6 and 7 of the Constitution. Today at 19:00h in Galeana St. #485, corner Aranzazu, I will deliver my request for a reply to Pulso's director. I will demand his employee produce evidence for his insults or a public retraction.
